Painting the town with all kinds of colors! Dominican graffiti legends Freco and SK have begun a special mural commissioned by Cabarete Sostenible at the public basketball court in La Cienega. Find them on the court in the next coming days as they finish this piece in time for our upcoming street art event, Festival de las Mascaras, on Friday, October 30th.
Street art enhances and beautifies public spaces; it provides a sense of place and belonging, and a sense of connection. This piece is an expression of everything Cabarete Sostenible stands for: supporting the needs and uplifting the existing values of our neighbors.
For the past few weeks, we have also collaborated with Academia de la Costa. The Academy is leading free boxing and kickboxing classes at this basketball court, in an effort to bring wellness programs to our underserved communities. Up next: we are working with the local basketball team to give the court an upgrade and support upcoming youth leaders.
