Solidarity with Las Galeras

On September 19, 2022, Samaná was hit by Hurricane Fiona and several areas were greatly affected.

Current situation

The eye of the storm hit the community of Las Galeras and its surrounding areas for more than 8 hours, causing extensive structural, environmental, and economic damage.

The  Asociación Galerenses para el Desarrollo Sostenible, together with the Centro Dominicano de Hipoterapia, have carried out a survey with more than 60 families that have been affected and that depend on sectors such as agriculture, fishing and tourism, which have also suffered great losses by the situation.
